Melodists differ from Song Books in that melodists contain the music as well as the lyrics. This small booklet, published originally in 1861, contains 61 songs, including such titles as "Pretty Nelly"; "Bonnie Eloise"; "Love Me Little, Love Me Long"; " Strike the Light Guitar"; "The Old Folks Are Gone"; "The Female Smuggler"; "Work, Work"; "Widow Machree"; "The Low-Backed Car" and many more. To my knowledge, it's the only dime book Beadle's ever published with the music in it.
