Continental Army Document Kits

Documents of the Continental Army on CD (CD0401) -  This CD contains 60 PDF images of our Continental documents, forms and posters. Each CD contains the images of the forms, and a page of explanatory notes detailing how to fill out each form. Now you can make as many copies of some, or all of our forms anytime you need them. All the forms at the click of a mouse for $40!

All of our Continental Army documents are based on existing originals. While most of the originals are typeset printed forms, some are handwritten. These handwritten forms followed an obvious format, but to date we have not seen printed examples of these. If we were to only sell reproductions of the printed forms, there would be administrative holes in our offerings. To fill these holes, we also offer a few re-creations of the handwritten forms.

Other American Documents

1776 Infantry Regimental Return (10 x 13) (DRW001)- The company returns were compiled into a regimental return. These forms were used to determine fighting strength, amount of food issued, and give a clear picture of the organization of the 1776 regiment, the basic fighting unit of the army. One of these is included in the American Regimental Sergeant's Kit (RWP101) $2.00.
1779 Muster Roll (11 X 17) (DRW003) - This hand-written roll is more typical of Continental Army muster forms. It records men's names, ranks, promotions, date of enlistment, and disposition. When you purchase this you actually receive two forms, one printed and one blank for you to fill in. $2.00
1779 Infantry Regimental Return, type 1 (10 x 15) (DRW003) - This form is similar to the 1776 form, but shows the organizational changes that have taken place in the army during the years in between. $2.00.
1779 Cavalry Regimental Return (8 x 14) (DRW004) - The cavalry also had to account for its numbers. This form is amusing to us because the printer places an advertisement for his work right at the top of the form. $1.50.
Continental Navy (Marine) Discharge (3 x 7) (DRW005) This dollar-sized slip of paper was given to a sailor at the completion of a cruise.  $.50.
1776 Continental Army Recruiting Poster (8 x 14) (DRW305) - Another poster containing Instructions to the Officers Appointed to Recruit. This poster went up in New York. $1.50

Note: This document is also contained in the Recruiting Kit, (RWP105).

1778 Army Organization Chart (14 x 8) (DRW306) - This chart was published to show the new 1778 organization of the army, and to show the salaries of all of the ranks and titles. Want to know what a private made? How about an executioner in the military police? Check the chart to find out. $1.50 Note: This document is also contained in the Recruiting Kit, (RWP105).

1777 Washington's Valley Forge Proclamation (11 x 16) (DRW307) - Moving into Valley Forge in December 1777, the army desperately needed forage and food. Washington issued this proclamation, calling for wheat and hay, which was posted in the Valley Forge area. $1.50.
