Beadle's Dime Books

In 1859, Irwin and Erastus Beadle moved to New York city and opened a publishing house on William Street. In 1862, Robert Adams joined the firm. Through partnership changes and moves down William Street, the firm of Irwin P. Beadle, Beadle and Adams, published inexpensive books until the 1890's. In 1861, they began publishing a new type of book, the Dime Novel. This type of book later became synonymous with sensationalized cheap fiction, but in the 1860's the books had not sunk to that level.

Fortunately we have available to us a rather extensive collection of original Beadle's books, both fiction and non-fiction. We believe we offer the widest selection of Civil War-era reproduction Beadle's books available today, and are always seeking new titles. Sullivan Press is proud to bring these books back to life.
